Because when it comes to mail merges, Google Sheets is far more powerful. With its automatic cloud-syncing feature, your work is auto-saved with each edit you make. Google Sheets is free and available to anyone. All you need is a Google account! Such text and blank rows must be removed from your spreadsheet before you can use it with GMass. You can quickly delete them by holding down the Ctrl button and clicking on the row numbers to be removed.
Your spreadsheet must also be in plain text with proper formatting of rows and columns. However, if your spreadsheet has multiple sheets , you can select the required sheet from the worksheet drop-down menu. Click the Personalize drop-down list, and all the column names you added in your Google Sheets file will show up. You can insert these placeholders anywhere in your email subject and body. You can use mail merge in Microsoft Office to create a form letter with unique personalization elements like greetings or salutations for each recipient. The next step is to prepare a mail merge template for your form letter in Microsoft Word. You can choose between an email, envelope, letter, directory, or label template. Step F Your file will be automatically imported as a new Google spreadsheet, which becomes your mail merge recipient list and data file.
Your Google Sheet must be well-formatted before you use it with GMass. GMass will auto-detect all column names during the mail merge process. It will automatically use the column labels in your Google Sheet as the placeholders in your email template.
After logging in, you can see three new GMass buttons next to your Gmail search box. It only makes the buttons appear in your Gmail account. You have to link it to your Gmail account as above to activate it.
Step C You can now use the drop-down menu to choose the Google sheet you want to use for the mail merge. Note: If you have only one sheet Sheet1 in your Google spreadsheet , that sheet gets chosen by default. However, if your spreadsheet has multiple sheets, you can select the sheet you want from the drop-down list. It will also automatically insert their email addresses in the To field of a new email. Note: GMass replaces the list of individual email addresses with a single alias address.
However, you can choose to display the email addresses individually. In the images below, you can see the options that you get upon filling certain cells using a fill handle; the options include Copy cells, Fill Series, Fill Formatting Only and Fill without Formatting. You can see what the latter 3 options do from the images accompanying this point. This being a kind of normal copy and paste operation will only create a fixed transposed version of the original table. For instance in the images below, you can see the data to be copied has 9 rows and 2 columns, and the area that we select after that has 9 columns and 2 rows.
A new transposed table is thus created, but it is a live copy of the original one, i. As you can see in the images below, when the data in B6 is changed, data in L10 automatically changes.

For some contact lists there are 3 contacts and for some there can be I need to hide the rows that are not populated in the report or be able to expand the preformatted rows based on a value that determines the number of contacts. You can combine the "first day minus one" part of your formula directly in the Date function call like this I am not sure if the VBA based templates work on mac. Rest of them should work just fine. But if all you need is to read the data, you can as well write a VBA macro that will convert excel to access or mysql table and then read that in PHP. I need to do a comparison between employees and time ranges to see the common time that they were employed. I would like to see all of the employees and who was employed at certain time periods.
I know that I can do this in a table but I really need to be able to do it in Excel so that I can have the charts for display. Do you have any suggestions? You can make a simple scatter plot with lines to show how long each employee has been employed. It is a good representation if you have less than 25 items. Then for each employee, I would shade all the cells during which he is employed as gray and rest of the cells with no color. Now, when you reduce the row heights, you can fit a few hundred rows in one view and this can give a picture of how long the employees are usually in the company.
You can sort the table by joining date or duration of employment for some interesting insights. That said, it all depends on what you want the chart for.

I tried creating a sideways barchart using data in rows and stripping out all the unwanted chart features so that just the bars were left, rather like your cricket scores sheet.
It looked great, but then I realised that the bars are in reverse order of the data. Where did I go wrong? It must be something really easy, but I can't think what it is. I found another way of fixing it - using an array function to reverse the data rows into a different column, then making it the data source, then hiding the reversed data rows under the chart. Chris: You need not reverse the values using array formulas.
